How to get your site included in Google News. If you want your news site or blog to be included in Google News, one of the world largest automated news aggregator provided by Google Inc, you have to explicit request for inclusion in Google News. Google uses its own software to determine which stories to show from the online news sources. Cost of inclusion in Google News is free.

In order to included your site or blog in Google News (getting in is not that easy), your news site or blog should at least meet the following Technical guidelines for Google to consider:

Technical Requirements

Dynamic content – Google News indexes dynamically generated webpages.
Different domains – Google won’t be able to crawl your articles if they are hosted on a domain that’s separate from your main site.
Drop-down menus – Google News is unable to crawl articles only accessible through a drop down menu.
Embedded JavaScript text – Google News doesn’t accept articles embedded in JavaScript
Flash, graphic/image or JavaScript links – Google News does not recognize or follow Flash, graphic/image or JavaScript links which link to articles.
Forum URLs – Google News is unable to include articles that are set up as posts or threads.
Frames – If your site uses frames, Google News may not be able to crawl your content properly.
Languages and encoding – Google News is unable to include sites with articles that display more than one language within the text of the article.
Multimedia content – Google News don’t accept audio files or podcasts.
PDF and other non-HTML formats – Google News doesn’t crawl articles in PDF format.

According to Google, Google News aims to promote original journalism.

There are no human editors selecting stories or deciding which ones deserve top placement. Ranking in Google News is determined based on a number of factors, including:

  • Freshness of content
  • Diversity of content
  • Rich textual content which would help users searching for information to find your articles

Technical Requirements: Article URLs

Be unique – Each of your pages needs to have a unique URL.
Be permanent – Each article on a news site needs to be associated with one unique URL.
Display a three-digit number – Each article URL must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits. This rule is waived if your site has News sitemaps.

Sites encoded in UTF-8 are optimal for Google News, Don’t include a date or time in your article titles.

Suggestions above should increase the likelihood to include your site in Google News.

    Google is not including blogs in his aggregator currently so please give true information…..

    Great tips! I also heard they recommend you have at least 3 new high quality articles a day. Obviously spammy content won’t win you any votes. Google news will increase your views significantly. Excellent list.
