If you’re thinking that Apple’s iPhone is the best-selling consumer smartphone in the U.S. ? You’re Wrong. According to market researcher NPD Group, the best-selling smartphone was BlackBerry Curve in first-quarter of 2009. Verizon Wireless promotion “buy-one-get-one” helped to RIM’s BlackBerry Curve move past Apple’s iPhone. This means BlackBerry Curve is more popular than iPhone.
NPD’s Top-five best-selling smartphones rankings:
1. RIM BlackBerry Curve (all 83XX models)
2. Apple iPhone 3G (all models)
3. RIM BlackBerry Storm
4. RIM BlackBerry Pearl (all models, except flip)
5. T-Mobile G1
