iPod and iTunes are both Apple Inc’s products. So, what is the difference an iPod and iTunes. iPod is a media player product where as iTunes is a digital media player application to play the files.
iPod
iPod is a media player, your iPhone can function as an iPod, but it’s a separate product shipped with iPhone. iPod requires iTunes software to play the files.

iTunes
iTunes allows you to play and organize digital music and video files in your PC, Mac, iPod and as well as in iPhone. It allows you to manage the contents on iPod digital media players and iPhone. You can synchronize media files with your iPod, import music from your CDs, create playlists, convert music to a different format. iTunes can burn your files to a CD or DVD.
