Windows XP periodically records a snapshot of your computer.These snapshots are called restore points.
System Restore is a component of Microsoft’s Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems which periodically records a snapshot of your computer. These snapshots are called restore points. System Restore rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs to a previous state in the event of malfunctioning or failure.
Here is how to enable or disable your System Restore
Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Click on System. This will open the system properties > make sure “Turn off System Restore” is not checked.
- Turn off System Restore(Checked) – your System Restore is disabled. System Restore won’t track any changed in computer.
- Turn off System Restore(unchecked) – your System Restore is enabled
