S&P 500 volatility at 70-year high, since 1938

Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index, the most widely-used barometer of the U.S. stock market, added 47.29 points (3.6 %) to 1,369.99.

S&P 500 index is at a 70-year high – hasn’t gained more since a 4.8 percent rally in 1938, according to an analysis by Standard & Poor’s, reports Reuters.
