Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued the final guidelines for usage of ATMs, according to the guidelines customers will able to withdraw money from any automated teller machine (ATM) in India free of charge from April 1, 2009.
Rs 20 for using third-party ATMs will be eliminated. Customers will able to walk into any bank ATM and check their account balance for free and withdraw cash., said the RBI in its Fair Pricing and Enhanced Access.
India has 32,342 ATMs as of December 31, 2007, the Reserve Bank of India said.
