Apple’s iPhone 3G is a blockbuster, 1 million sold phones in just three days. It is a Internet-enabled multimedia smartphone. It has a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons, but a minimal amount of hardware input.

The iPhone was initially introduced in the United States on 29 June 2007 and is in the process of being introduced worldwide. It was named Time magazine’s Invention of the Year in 2007. On 11 July 2008, the iPhone 3G was released and supported faster 3G data speeds and Assisted GPS.

Though IPhone is the Invention of the Year in 2007, but there are other smartphones from HTC, Samsung, RIM, Nokia, LG, and GPS-maker Garmin, that can offer the same features. Of these, about half are not scheduled to be out until the end of this year.

Nokia and Google to Compete With IPhone

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia the World’s largest cellphone maker announced that it will facilitate Google web search on it’s products.
Nokia will integrate web search on Nokia N96, Nokia N78, Nokia 6210 Navigator and Nokia 6220 classic models. In future web search will be integrated in additional models.

Apple has integrated web search in it’s i-phones. At the GSM World Congress, Google announced that it sees 50 times more search requests coming from Apple iPhones than any other mobile handset.

Just only 8 months on the market, the iPhone from Apple Inc. is prompting strong competitors.
