Tata NANO - World’s Cheapest Car Fast Facts

Nano - World’s cheapest car - costing just £1,200 - unveiled by Indian buyers of Jaguar . The price of the tiny Nano, made by the Indian conglomerate Tata, starts at just £1,250.

The base model has no air conditioning (other than the wind-down window variety) no power steering, no passenger-side mirror and only one windscreen wiper.

The Nano will be launched in India later in 2008. The car will be available in both standard and deluxe versions. Both versions will offer a wide range of body colours, and other accessories so that the car can be customised to an individual’s preferences.

“Tara Tiny” at Rs 99,000 the world’s cheapest car, replaces the Tata Nano

It seems Tata Nano is no longer going to be the the world’s cheapest car! .

Tara Tiny from the Tara International stable is going to be cheapest car which runs on electricity. These are zero emission and cost only Rs 99,000!, which is 1 rupee less than that of Tata Nano (not including levies or delivery charges).

The Tara Tiny can seat 2 people and can be recharged daily at 220 volts through 15 amp sockets, a 8 hour charge enables the cars to travel 80 - 100 kilo meters.

The only downside to the Electric Tara Tiny is that it will only reach a top speed of 50 km/hr (31 mph), which is not bad for urban driving.

Tara International has teamed up with China’s Aucma, a leading player in the electrical vehicles and appliances segment, to manufacture this cars.

Tata Nano shines at 2008 Geneva Motor Show

Following its debut in New Delhi in this January, Ratan Tata - chairman of the India’s largest conglomerate Tata Group, unveiled two versions of the world’s cheapest production car - the Tata Nano at the 78th Geneva Motor Show along with three other vehicles, the new generation Indica, the new Safari DICOR 2.2 VTT and the Xenon.

” Nano is not presently planned to be launched in Europe and we are serious about making a contribution to the industry on a global basis,” Ratan Tata told reporters.

Timesofindia reports that when Tata Motors unveiled the Indica 10 years ago, it was a little known third world company, but today all incredulous eyes in the crammed stall were tuned to the world’s cheapest production car - the Tata Nano.

Tata Motors’ Nano car to hit traffic in Oct

Indian automobile maker Tata Motors Ltd will move out its ultra-cheap Nano car on schedule by October, a top official said.

Managing Director Ravi Kant told media, “We are maintaining the schedule of car launch in the second half of next fiscal,”.

Tata Motors launched the world’s cheapest car ,$2,500 Nano,in January and said it would rool outlater in the year.

Tata has said it will initially produce about 250,000 Nanos and expects eventual annual demand of one million units.
