According to Forbes, even the soaring yen couldn’t pull up the fortunes of Japan’s richest people.

Japan’s retail tycoon Tadashi Yanai tops the list and he is now worth $6.1 billion and has moved up to No. 1 from No. 6 last year, becoming the fifth person in as many years to take the top spot in Japan.

Japan’s 40 Richest are now worth a combined $69.5 billion. The year’s richest newcomer is Internet entrepreneur Yoshikazu Tanaka.

Here is the Forbes list of Ten Top-Earning Celebrity Chefs. Two-time Daytime Emmy nominated television personality and author Rachael Ray (Rachael Domenica Ray) dominates the list with $18 million.

Ray teaches simple recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. She uses ingredients such as garlic and chicken stock as simple ways to boost flavors. Ray has also written a series of cookbooks based on the 30 Minute Meals concept, and launched a magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray, in 2006.
