Emerging markets to spend $1trillion on IT - Gartner

Emerging regions such as Asia/Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa will continues to rise and generate IT spending of $1.1trillion in 2008, according to Gartner

Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC Economies) will lead this growth, according to Gartner, and spending in those four states will make up a third of all developing world IT spend.

The Gartner said that these emerging regions will generate IT spending of $1,1 trillion in 2008, which will grow to $1,3 trillion in 2011, becoming a major force for IT growth worldwide.

Wipro Infotech to manage Pantaloon outlets IT operations.

Wipro Infotech — India, Middle East & Asia Pacific IT business unit of Wipro– announced that it has won a $50 million 5 year outsourcing contract from Pantaloon Retail.

  • Pantaloon operates over 1000 outlets across 53 Indian cities.

Wipro Infotech would be responsible for rolling out and managing IT operations across all Pantaloon outlets. The company will deliver infrastructure management and application support services, managed security services and data centre hosting, operations & management services.
