Google Chrome OS (Google Chrome Operating System) is an open source, lightweight operating system that will be designed primarily for netbooks but also for desktop computers. Speed, simplicity and security will be the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. It’s the Google challenge to Microsoft and its Windows operating systems.
Chrome OS is an extension of Google’s Chrome browser code, which will use cloud-based services to make your life easier, so users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware, security updates, automatic backups, software updates, etc.
Google already has an operating system Google Android operating system, which was designed work with variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. But, Google Chrome OS is being designed to work with small netbooks to personal computer systems.
Google Chrome OS will build off running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. Chrome OS will run on x86 and ARM chips and will support all web-based standards.
