Which one will make you fatter – Carbohydrate calories Vs Fat calories ? According to studies it is clear that the source of the calories is really not important, Calorie from fat will cause a similar amount of weight gain as a calorie from carbohydrate.

A gram of carbohydrates has 4 calories, a gram of protein has 4 calories and a gram of fat has 9 calories. Fat is twice as dense in calories than either protein or carbohydrates.

Calories are also the basic tool for weight control. The fact is that if you take in more calories than you need to sustain your current weight, you will gain weight. If you take in fewer calories than you need, you will lose weight.

So the quality of the diet matters.
