Apple Watch ECG capabilities

Apple Watch Series 4 will feature an electrical heart rate sensor that can take an electrocardiogram (ECG) using the new ECG app. It is capable of generating an ECG similar to a single-lead electrocardiogram. It can give critical real-time data for doctors.

When you hold the Digital Crown for 30 seconds, the electrodes built into the Apple Watch Series 4 digital crown and the back crystal work together with the ECG app to read your heart’s electrical signals and generate ECG waveform (known as Electrocardiography ).

ECG is a diagnostic tool that is routinely used to assess the electrical and muscular functions of the heart. You can share ECG data with your doctor to and have an informed conversation about your health. This data will be stored in the Health app on your iPhone for future analysis with your doctor.
