VLC Media Player is an open source media layer for Windows, OS X, and Linux. VLC finally version 1.0 is the latest.

VLC Media Player 1.0.1 has cool features include instantaneous pausing, frame-by-frame playback, on-the-fly recording and finer speed control during playback. Decorders new to this release include Dolby Digital Plus, True HD/MLP, Blue-ray Linear PCM decoders and AES3.
