Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), one of India’s largest and fastest-growing telecom networks has partnered with mobile commerce firm PayMate to enable Tata Indicom customers to book flight tickets anywhere, anytime on the mobile phone.

Nearly 20 million subscribers of Tata Indicom will now get to book flight tickets anywhere, anytime, on their mobile phones.

Tata Indicom is the first telecom operator to go live with PayMate. The service enables real-time flight bookings across all domestic airlines at the best available fares.

Customers need to download a application one-time from Tata Zone to experience the service. They can make the payment by providing credit card details on the phone and get an instant booking confirmation, according to a news release from PayMate.

Kingfisher Airlines already has a tie-up with PayMate for its SMS-based ticketing service.

The Indian defence establishment has made some progress in nano research with a carbon nano-tube manufacturing plant in Kanpur. “Indian industry should wake up and begin thinking afresh on nanotechnology’s scope and applications if it wants to be a world leader in the years to come,” he said.

After several weeks of speculation, Yahoo announced that it is joining the MySpace and Google Inc OpenSocial Foundation to ensure the neutrality and longevity of OpenSocial as an open, community-governed specification for building social applications across the web.

Yahoo’s in its release announced that “Yahoo! believes in supporting community-driven industry specifications and expects that OpenSocial will fuel innovation and make the web more relevant and more enjoyable to millions of users.

Many sites, one API

OpenSocial defines a common API for social applications across multiple websites. With standard JavaScript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network’s friends and update feeds.

There are many websites implementing OpenSocial, including Engage.com, Friendster, hi5, Hyves, imeem, LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning, Oracle, orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING.
