Tata Chemicals Ltd, part of Indian Tata group, announced that it would buy US-based soda ash maker General Chemical Industrial Products Inc for $1.005 billion.

The US firm is currently among one of the top five global producers. Its plant is located 280 km northeast of Salt Lake City in Wyoming state in the US. It has been producing soda ash for more than 100 years.

The new international airport for Navi Mumbai, destined for the Kopra-Panvel area, will be built through public-private partnership (PPP) — with private sector partners having 74% equity and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Maharashtra government (through City and Industrial Development Corporation or CIDCO) each holding 13 per cent.

• The airport, to be built at a cost of Rs 2,787 crore
• Airport will have a capacity of 10 million passengers per year.
