The Hindu to launch ‘ERGO’: an IT tabloid

The Hindu, with its largest base of circulation in Tamil Nadu, is all set to roll out an IT based tabloid called ‘ERGO‘, starting with Chennai,

Distributed free of cost, the publication targets the city’s youth, particularly those in the IT sector. ‘ERGO’, an IT term for a web-based system that allows forms or grants to be submitted electronically through institutional processes.

The tabloid will start with an initial print run of 50,000 copies to be distributed free of cost in popular IT parks across the city. Once the newspaper gains ground in Chennai, it might expand to other IT centres such as Bangalore.

Indian Export sector: 2 million may lose jobs

Commerce Minister Kamal Nath said 20 lakh people may face unemployment if remedial measures were not taken.

Government says as many as 20 lakh people may become jobless in the export sector if remedial measures were not taken due to rupee appreciation in the last one year.

Between October 2006 and October 2007, rupee has appreciated by 15 per cent against the US dollar, increase in flow of dollar and global decline in the value of the US currency were the main reasons.

Commerce Minister Kamal Nath said that the government is considering fresh sops for the export sector and a proposal to this regard may be placed before the Cabinet soon.

Rajesh Exports will roll out 100 ‘Shubh Jewellers‘ stores in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It is kind of first time that a jewellery company is launching nine brands simultaneously.

Exercise could boost brain’s natural antidepressant

Exercise seems to increase the production of naturally occurring brain chemical with antidepressant effects in mice, researchers reported
They focused on a brain region known as the hippocampus, which has been implicated in mood regulation and in the brain’s response to antidepressant medication.

Reasons for the benefit have not been clear.
